Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What kinds of assets does NextUse manage?
NEXTUSE LLC will manage all forms of corporate electronic assets: desktop & laptop computers, monitors,
servers, fax machines, copiers, printers, cell phones, phone systems, telecommunications & networking
equipment, Unix machines, mainframe computers, hand held devices, point of sale machines, storage &
video systems, analytic equipment.
Q. How is NextUse different from a recycler?
Technology assets have an economic life that begins on the purchase date and ends on the destruction date. NextUse specializes in managing an asset’s economic value during its useful life as a whole unit. Recyclers either tear down, or destroy, whole units.
Q. What is economic value?
Economic value begins with the total cost of ownership (TCO). TCO are the costs to (a) acquire, install, support, & insure assets while in service plus (b) de-install, store, insure, pay business tax and dispose of assets out of service. Disposal costs include the liabilities related to hard drive data & the EPA risks of improper destruction. Economic value results when clients:
i) Minimize TCO and residual liability,
ii) Share in the proceeds from the re-sale of their assets, and
iii) Reduce the overall cost of their technology infrastructure.
Q. How does NextUse create economic value?
NEXTUSE LLC focuses on managing a client’s technology to create ecomic value through reduced TCO, hard dollar remarketing proceeds, and increased effectiveness of the technology budget. Each NEXTUSE LLC service addresses an element of the economic value equation, giving clients the ability to determine how & when in the life cycle of their technology assets they access value. Services can be accessed individually or bundled as a comprehensive asset management program:
Disposition: Receipt, test, data elimination, documentation, re-sale prep;
Remarket: Re-sale of equipment;
Replacement: Sale of task-matched used and/or new equipment to clients;
Transport: On-site pick, pack, shipping & logistics management;
Disposal: EPA-compliant destruction of obsolete assets
Q. How do NextUse programs differ from other competitors, including Original Equipment
Manufacturers (OEM)?
Non-OEM competitors are mostly fragmented, focused on a single aspect of life cycle management
(Ex.: recyclers), and do not have fully visible processes that provide adequate documentation. OEM competitors offer to take old equipment as a sales tool. These services are normally outsourced to managers like NEXTUSE LLC, and "sale" proceeds take the form of credits against new purchases. Pricing is inefficient, as the OEM normally marks up the service costs, and the client is not usually told the fair market value of their assets.
Q. What does full visibility mean?
A fully visible program means the client knows where their assets are at all times. Nextuse LLC transportation partners allow clients to track their assets from pick-up to arrival at NEXTUSE LLC headquarters. Clients can have access to Nextuse LLC system for reporting, audit services, documentation, and process, including asset detail (serial numbers, confirmation of data elimination, working status). Obsolete assets that are destroyed are documented by certificates of destruction from Nextuse LLC certified recycling vendor.
Q. How important is data erasure?
Privacy act regulations (Graham-Leach-Bliley; HIPPA; FERBA), do not define a standard, but require data
erasure prior to disposal. However, forensic software that retrieves conventionally erased data is widely
available. NEXTUSE LLC eliminates hard drive data using overwrite procedures that conform to the US Dept. of Defense guidelines for the elimination of classified data.
Q. How does NextUse remarket assets?
NEXTUSE LLC has over twenty year’s domestic/international experience. Assets are re-sold through
Nextuse LLC proprietary channels including wholesale; commercial; and retail markets. NEXTUSE LLC re-sale operations (i) liquidate assets within an average of 30 days, & (ii) match assets with demand to produce the highest possible revenue shares.
Q. How do I determine the fair market value of my assets?
NEXTUSE LLC clients have the option to purchase monthly access to EZ Quote, Nextuse LLC proprietary
on-line quoting tool. NEXTUSE LLC updates its fair market database bi-monthly.
Q. Can NextUse provide a multi-site, national program?
Yes, for example, one of Nextuse LLC clients has over 10,000 assets installed in 400 North American locations. NEXTUSE LLC manages all aspects of this program including pick, pack, & shipping logistics. |
